Soundscape

The soundscape was created using a series of oral history interviews about LAEMOS, cut, pasted and collaged into a narrative, telling a story in three acts. The story then informed the creation of the piece’s musical elements, created using digital and analogue synthesisers and found sounds. Sounds of everyday life recently recorded in Nottingham and Arizona are featured and blended throughout.

Introducing the audio dimension to artistic work ignites the listening sense, and enhances experience that are typically visual, generating sensory depth and creating an immersive experience. The sonic space is created with layered sound that invites the visitor to the installation. The voices can be listened to intently to build the narrative, or simply form part of the whole sonic tapestry.
